Daughters of Eve Media presents film screenings, hosts panel discussions and curates scholarly film content centering independent and underrepresented Black women filmmakers and diverse audiences. DoE Media has enjoyed a multiyear programming partnership with the American Black Film Festival since 2012, presenting events that showcase filmmakers such as Tracy Heather Strain, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Ayoka Chenzira, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Jacqueline Olive and numerous other talented directors, producers, film scholars and writers. This effort, undertaken in the spirit of filmmakers such as Euzhan Palcy, Julie Dash and Kasi Lemmons among others, is named for Collins, who was among the first black women to make feature films and was a pioneering and visionary film professor and writer.
Daughters of Eve Media engaged Joan Baker (Society of Voice Arts), Rudy Gaskins (Society of Voice Arts) and Dave Fennoy (award-winning voice actor) in a vibrant discussion about the power of voice as an instrument for telling film and media stories and how to enter and succeed in this market. from pitch to fundraising, to production and advertising. Daughters of Eve Media in conjunction with the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences will explore the ways filmmakers and content creators can enrich their storytelling—and leverage their marketing power—by fully envisioning the endgame before reaching the post-production phase and highlighting the critical value of diverse voices.
